This may sound cliche, but in my studio every design tells a story.
Over the several years running this business, I have had the privilege of working with some incredible individuals. From early childhood educators, to emergency nurses, small business owners to allied health workers. While my work is rooted in design and manufacturing, the heart of what I do lies in connection - understanding who my clients are, what they need and how a seemingly simple design can help them express their identity in a professional warm and joyful way.
Connection Starts With Listening
One of my favourite parts of the creative process is hearing the stories behind each order.
Whether it’s a early education teacher wanting to make her students smile with a fun design her students will connect with, or a nurse personalising her badge to help build rapport with patients, I always aim to translate their personality and role into something both beautiful and functional.
Over time, I’ve found that listening is just as important as creating. Clients often come to me with ideas they’re not quite sure how to express—so part of my role is to interpret, guide, and turn vague visions into something tangible. It's a gentle reminder that communication isn’t just about what we say, but how well we understand.
Badges that Break the Ice
I’ve often heard how AMDMelbourne badges become unexpected conversation starters—whether in hospitals, classrooms, markets, or salons. Beyond being a practical accessory, they help wearers feel confident, approachable, and seen.
One of my favourite stories comes from the birth of my cousin’s son. As she met her midwife, she immediately noticed a Love Heart Badge on her uniform—one of mine. Delighted, she asked where it was from. When the midwife mentioned AMDMelbourne, my cousin beamed and said, “That’s my cousin’s business!”
Moments like these might seem small, but they’re a powerful reminder of how human-centred design and clear communication create real connection. Whether between colleagues, clients, or patients, helping people feel recognised and valued makes all the difference.
